A decade of asking why buildings underperform

Tacit started inside UCL's Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources. For ten years, our co-founders led research on how buildings generate data and how rarely that data translates into better decisions. Smart building systems, fault detection, control, and the data models that tie them together. Work that has shaped how building digitalisation is thought about across Europe.

We didn't stop at the papers. The team has deployed AI in plant rooms across Europe and Asia, sat through countless walkthroughs, and worked with FM teams to figure out what actually shifts the dial on energy, comfort, and uptime. What we kept seeing was the same thing in every building.
